Frequently Asked Questions
How long will you spend shooting images on the day ?
I`m there for as long as it takes to tell the story of your wedding (usually 10-12 hours). I find that starting a few hours before the ceremony allows enough time to capture lots of “getting ready” images and I will be working hard after the first dance when guests let their hair down.
How do we choose the images for our album?
Once you reviewed the images I ask you to select about 80. I will make a bespoke layout, and send you a proof showing how the pages are laid out. When you are happy with the layout it is signed off by you, I then arrange for the album to be created.
Do you take the formal group shots ?
It`s very important to get some, but it’s often the part of the day everyone does not look forward to and can ruin the atmosphere and flow of the wedding. I ask the bride and groom to draw up a list before the big day and to nominate the best man or usher to gather the required groups together.
Do you make our guests pose all day ?
No, the only time I will ask your guests to actively ‘smile at the camera’ is during the formal shots. My aim is to blend into the background, allowing you and your guests to relax and enjoy the celebrations.
What happens if you are ill ?
In the unlikely event I am unable to attend on the day, I have a network of other professional photographers I can call on.
Do you use a second photographer ?
A second photographer may be required if the groom or bridesmaids require to be shadowed. Most of the time I work alone as the sole photographer taking the responsibility of recording the day. I work discretely aiming to allow your guests to relax, which is more difficult to achieve if they feel they are under the scrutiny of more than one photographer.
Do you travel ?
Yes, and there are no extra charges for travel within 20 miles of Wolverhampton but after that travel is charged at £1 per mile and any overnight accommodation and food would also need to be covered. Weddings at a great distance or abroad would be quoted separately.
Do you shoot Video or use Drones ?
I am a stills photographer only. I feel they are completely separate disciplines and you are better off with a video and drone professional to add to the special recording of your day. I do have contacts who specialize in these areas should you wish I can point you in the right direction.
How long do you spend working on a wedding?
This is a question I am getting asked more often.
Photography package
- Wedding consultation typically 3 hrs including travel.
- Organizing the itinerary – 2 hrs.
- Photographing your wedding 10 – 12 hrs.
- Editing the images, picking the best ones, and doing basic processing for an online gallery 17-30 hrs.
- Super editing the 70 or so images you pick for the album and making a proof 12-15 hrs.
- The album changes 4-8 hrs.
- Rough minimum total = 51 + hrs.
Pre-wedding shoot
- 2-3 hrs plus travel.
- Editing shoot 4-5 hrs.
- Total minimum = 8 hrs.
Supplying images on USB for you to print
- Super editing all images 30-50 hrs.
- Converting all images individually to black and white 5 hrs.
- Total minimum = 35+ hrs.
If you chose all 3 options total = 94+ hrs.
I think, in most circumstances that this is the minimum time I spend on your wedding photography images.
How soon will we get our images ?
I edit all your photos. I then process all the best images. This can take time to make sure they are all perfect. This may be longer than three weeks depending on the number. I usually try to aim for around 6 weeks. This would not include an album unless that is the sole output option. It can take much longer but I try to do it as quickly as possible.
Do you make back ups ?
Yes – your images are backed up and will be safe for years to come. I also issue two USB copies if you have digital files supplied as part of the package, one for use and one for a backup.
Do you blog our wedding ?
Yes, I may use some images for my website and social media, but only with permission as laid out in the contract.
How do I book you ?
As soon as you are happy to proceed, a non-refundable booking fee of £150 will secure me for the day. The balance will need to be paid no later than 40 days before the wedding day.
It is always best to book at least 12 months in advance of your date to secure the booking.
You can contact me here or call me on 07941-323971. Leave a message and I`ll get back to you.
When do you normally Shoot weddings ?
Most Weddings I normally shoot are at the weekend. I am not always available during weekdays, but still, enquire as I’m normally available during school holidays.
